Google has commenced the rollout of the April security update for Pixel phones and the Pixel Tablet. Concurrently, the company is also launching this month’s update for the Pixel Watch.

All Pixel devices running Android 14 should now be in receipt of the new April software. The rollout will proceed over the next few days, contingent upon your carrier and device.

In this latest update, Google has integrated numerous Android 14 security fixes and 25 patches tailored specifically for Pixel devices. Additionally, the update introduces enhancements for Pixel users, including:

Biometrics:

• Rectification for the issue causing a black screen to appear when unlocking the screen under specific conditions (Pixel 5a 5G).

Camera:

• Improved stability for the camera under specific conditions when transitioning between different zoom levels (Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel Fold).
• Resolution for black halo artifacts occurring in the viewfinder under certain conditions when transitioning from photo to video mode at 1x zoom (Pixel 8, 8 Pro).
• Fix for the issue where users are unable to re-expose the image after tapping anywhere on the viewfinder (Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel Fold).

The update arrives with software version AP1A.240405.002 for the Pixel 5a 5G and above devices, including the Pixel Fold, which is assigned version AP1A.240405.002.A1.

Pixel Watch April 2024 update:

Both the Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 are receiving the April update, bearing version number TWD9.240405.001. This update brings numerous bug fixes and performance enhancements for Pixel Watch users. Here’s a glimpse into what’s included in Google’s changelog:

Watch Vibration:

• The current time is conveyed through haptics when the user gestures on the watch face.

Auto-brightness improvement:

• Enhanced user experience in the auto-brightness settings screen to facilitate discernment when switching levels.

Upon availability of the update for your Pixel Watch, an OTA notification will be sent to you. The rollout will be ongoing over the next week in phases.
